Obi-Wan insists on cleaning up after supper, before settling on his knees in front of the fire. "If there's work you still need to do," he nods at the basket of sewing by the chair, "I thought I might meditate. I don't wish to interrupt your life."
He does find himself wanting to share in it, however.

This is why Jedi are discouraged from making attachments. They are transient, forever moving on, away from people, due to necessity and duty.
